Nose: Notes of cinder toffee, sweet barbecue sauce and wood-fired grills roll out of the glass in waves. Charcoal and dusty barrel char build, balanced by blowtorched lemons, wet peat, and growing barleysugar
Palate: Ash, creosote and coal dust are swamped by thickly sweet raisin jam. Liquorice, both sweet and bitter, follows, with growing sweetness – stewed and baked apples, sprinkled with brown sugar, raisins and
spice. Red fruit gums pop up along with medicinal notes of fresh bandages and TCP. Water adds plump sultanas, black pepper and barbecue sauce.
Finish: Sweet fruit lingers – spiced apples and raisin jam.
